Comments of support by residents about the SER Net obtained following the October 2020 fire net (below).  It was the very next day following this very successful double fire net, that a local Ham (then President of the local ham club) started and led efforts to destroy critical portions of the emergency plan (including the Plans established use of key repeaters), attempted to seize control, and thereafter  boycott and destroy the plan. In response, in order to continue an operational emergency plan (e.g., wildfires), we adopted the TEAM approach using primarily CORE AREA non hams and a few dedicated Hams who work together and seek to monitor 24/7, follow the plan, and help out.  This Core TEAM approach has allowed us to preserve an effective and operating emergency communications plan despite loss of many Ham operators who, following their "leader", had stopped helping out during Fires and wouldn't respond to requests for assistance even during fires.  So, we now focus on a much smaller geographical area, and use the dedicated, competent and helpful Core Area TEAM residents who desire to help out. Our present Core Area TEAM of volunteers is doing a fantastic job.  You can view some of our actual activities here.

2019:  Ham Repeaters were being removed from all California Vaults. As a result of substantial legal work by Nathan Zeliff, Attorney at Law (K6PDS), and coordination with Cal Fire's Chief Legal counsel, such action was stopped. The result was that removal of approximately 70 repeaters from California Vaults (entire state) was stopped, and the Ham repeaters are to remain in place in All California Vaults, and will not be removed.  Further, a directive was issued that  "Ham radio is to be part of, wrapped into, the larger Cal FIRE communications network", Go Here and Here
