FUND RAISER FOR JACK POLEN

Rifle Raffle

In June 2009 (Father's Day) Jack Polen was diagnosed with colon cancer which required several surgeries and chemotherapy. Jack has been cancer free until recently. In April 2011, Jack went back to his doctor for a routine checkup and found out he had a cancerous growth. Once again, Jack had surgery to remove the cancer. Two days after the surgery, Jack was notified he has stage four colon cancer which surgery is not an option. Jack has to go through eight to ten months of extensive chemotherapy and radiation treatment in San Francisco, CA.

Jack has been a California Highway Patrol Officer for 32+ years. Although he could have retired years ago, he refuses to, as Jack loves what he does and is loved by his peers and the community. Jack has been assigned to the Shingletown area for the past eight years. During his time in Shingletown, Jack has made numerous friends throughout the community and is considered family to many Shingletown citizens. Jack is always smiling and always has a positive attitude while at work. Jack has four older children who live out of the Redding area. Approx. 10 years ago, Jack married Danielle who is assigned to the Redding Area as a CHP Dispatcher. Jack and Danielle have two younger children, Connor 7 and Makeanna 5. Jack and Danielle will be going through some really tough times in the near future.

The Redding CHP Office is raffling off a Remington 30-06, model 700 rifle with a Nikon 3X9 scope. All the proceeds from the rifle will go to Jack and Danielle to assist them with financial difficulties and the extensively long stays in. San Francisco during Jack's treatment. The raffle will be held at an upcoming fund raiser for Jack in late June or July pending Jack's health and strength. You do not have to be present to win, the winner will be contacted. Tickets are $ 1.00 a piece or 6 for $5.00.

Any questions can be directed to Randy Rudd (530) 330-0403,
